Young People at Heart took a total of nearly 450 people to the Pantomime this year, comprising our young people, their foster families and support networks, staff and their families, and friends and supporters of the organisation to one of three Pantomimes around the country; Cinderella at the Cast Theatre in Doncaster, Dick Whittington at the Thameside Theatre in Grays and Cinderella at The Courtyard Theatre in Hereford.
The shows were packed with impressive costumes and sets, singing, dancing and jokes which brought wonder and excitement to our audience, who certainly got involved with the pantomime spirit!
For many of our foster children, this was their first experience of the traditional family Christmas outing and we were delighted that a number of their siblings were able to join us with their foster carers from other organisations, so the children could all enjoy the shows together. Davina Cox, co-founder of Young People at Heart, said all three pantomimes were wonderful occasions and she commented what a joy it was to see everyone, young and not so young, wearing their Christmas jumpers and joining in the singing, shouting and booing. Everyone was treated to an ice-cream at the interval.
Our annual Pantomime visits have become a popular part of our activity and outing programme each year. We wonder what the 2020 Panto’s will be!
